Department

In the Department Global Polypropylene Technology of SABIC Europe in Geleen we are looking for enthusiastic trainees with affinity for research and its possible application in current or future processes of SABIC. Our team consists of scientists experienced in catalysis, material development, process technology and high throughput techniques and is focused on continuous optimization and diversification directed to implementation in our polypropylene portfolio.

Job Purpose & Responsibilities

Investigation towards new polymerization catalysts. The internship project focuses on the synthesis of catalysts for polypropylene production. It involves an interesting combination of synthesis in glass equipment, polymerization tests in steel reactor installations on bench scale level, as well as polymer characterization. As a trainee, you will have the chance to get familiar with various aspects of the catalyst development for current and future generations of polypropylene catalysts and its applications. You will work hands on in an international and multi-disciplinary industrial research environment taking on responsibility for a defined field of activity.

The assignment as trainee/intern is typically for a period of 9-12 months, starting beginning of August 2018.

Requirements

We are looking for a highly motivated student with a synthetic chemical background. The trainee should be eager to perform and document complex experiments in an accurate way. Applicants should have basic experience with laboratory research work, be familiar with safety requirements and enjoy teamwork. Good communication in English is required.
