Senior Polymer Process Development Engineer

Within the SBU Polymers Technology division SABIC is developing new products, applications, processes and products. Our Polymer PP Technology department in the technical center Geleen has an opening for a senior process development researcher working on the process development and improvement of Polypropylene.

Job Purpose & Responsibilities

As a process development researcher you will be working on technology development projects for the PP business in the professional and international technology organization. Your tasks and responsibilities include:

• To improve polyolefin production processes and product performance in terms of output, quality, consistency and costs.
• To work in a multidisciplinary setting within the Technology & Innovation organization where you will collaborate with different disciplines in the business and manufacturing environment where project approval, execution and implementation need to be secured.
• To define, execute and manage development projects. You have to align goals and priorities and identify the activities and resources needed to achieve these goals.
• To develop and communicate a vision of new developments in polyolefin process technologies.

Requirements

• You are educated to university level in chemical or polymer process technology (Master or PhD) and 5 to 10 year of experience in polyolefin process engineering research or other related industrial process engineering research.
• You are willing to grow your experience within process development in an industrial R&D environment in the field of polypropylene.
• You are a critical observer as well as a conceptual and analytical thinker.
• You are able to spot opportunities for existing and new processes and products and translate these into value propositions for the business.
• You are able to present your project proposals and results in a convincing manner to both business and manufacturing management.
• You are able to keep abreast of the state of the art in process technology and gain knowledge of associated fields and disciplines.
• You are able to maintain a network with Universities and institutes in polyolefin’ s and be able to be set up and maintain external collaborations. You are able to set up and maintain collaborations with other companies as technology suppliers or and cooperation’s with e.g. joint venture partners.
• You have high level knowledge in reactor engineering, kinetic modeling, design and operation of unit operations and the use of computational tools for the design and flow-sheeting of polymer production processes.
• You are a team player but you are also able to work independently on your contribution.
• You have a persevering and challenging attitude towards your work environment, but you can also accept other views.
• You are fluent in oral and written English.
